Description
Most gallery plugins hand you a builder, a dozen layouts and a page of settings. Lloyd Gallery takes the opposite approach: uploading your photos is the only step.
Create an album, drop in a folder of photos straight from your phone or camera, and press Publish. Lloyd Gallery turns them the right way up, resizes them, makes them fast to load and lays them out in a clean, full-width gallery with a full-screen lightbox. Your visitors get a gallery that looks professionally made. You never have to open a photo editor or a settings screen.
It is built for the people who actually keep a website up to date: clubs, schools, charities, venues, event organisers, small businesses, and the agencies who build sites for them. If you can drag a folder onto a page, you can run your photo gallery.
Uploading is the only step
- Drop in anything. Individual photos, a whole folder, or a zip file. Hundreds at a time, each with its own live progress bar.
- Photos are always the right way up. Phone photos that would otherwise appear sideways are rotated automatically.
- Fast-loading images, automatically. Every photo is resized for different screen sizes and saved in the modern WebP format when your server supports it. Visitors on phones download small images, visitors on big screens get sharp ones.
- iPhone photos. HEIC photos are converted automatically when your server supports it. If it doesn’t, Lloyd Gallery tells you so clearly, instead of adding photos that show up broken.
- Friendly error messages. If a file is too big or can’t be used, you’re told why, once, with the affected files listed underneath. Anything worth retrying gets a Retry button.
- Use what you already have. Pick photos from your Media Library instead of uploading them again. The same photo can appear in as many albums as you like.
Albums built in, free
Albums aren’t an extra or an upgrade here. They’re the heart of the plugin.
- A photo gallery page, made for you. Activating the plugin creates a “Photo Gallery” page that lists every published album with its cover photo and date. Add it to your menu and you’re done.
- Every album gets its own page with a clean, readable address, such as yoursite.com/gallery/summer-fair/.
- Event dates. Give each album the date it happened. Albums show their date, and you can sort by date or name.
- Drafts and previews. New albums start as drafts, so you can add photos and check the preview before anything goes live.
- Cover photos. The first photo becomes the cover automatically. Click the star on any other photo to change it.
- Descriptions. Add a line or two about the album, shown above its photos.
A gallery that looks great
- Justified photo grid. Photos are laid out in neat, full-width rows, the way photo sites like Flickr do it. Nothing is cropped, there are no awkward gaps, and portrait and landscape photos sit happily side by side.
- Full-screen lightbox. Click any photo to view it full screen. Swipe and pinch to zoom on phones, use the arrow keys on a computer.
- Slideshow. Press play in the lightbox for a hands-free slideshow, with a choice of speeds.
- Captions appear under photos and in the lightbox.
- Gentle animations. Photos fade in as visitors scroll, for a polished feel that never gets in the way.
- Looks right on every screen, from phones to large monitors.
So easy anyone can manage it
- One simple screen for all your albums, with Published and Draft tabs and bulk publish, unpublish and delete.
- Everything saves as you go. Rename an album, write a caption or change a date and it saves the moment you click away, with a small confirmation so you know it worked.
- Arrange the photos in an album by dragging them into the order you want.
- Rotate, caption or remove any photo right where it is, without a trip to the Media Library.
- Select several photos at once, including a whole range with Shift, and remove them in one go.
- Your photos are safe. Removing a photo from an album, or deleting a whole album, never deletes the photos from your Media Library. Anything permanent asks you to confirm first.
- Ready as soon as it’s installed. The defaults are chosen so you never need to visit the settings page. If you want to, you can adjust image quality and sizes there.
Works with your website
- Add galleries anywhere with the Lloyd Gallery block. Show a single album, or the full list of albums, on any page or post. Shortcodes are available too.
- Album Grid pattern. Want a different look for your album list? Insert the “Lloyd Gallery: Album Grid” pattern and rearrange it with ordinary WordPress blocks.
- Works with block themes and classic themes.
- Menus. Add the Photo Gallery page, or individual albums, to your site’s navigation like any other page.
- Search engines. Albums are proper WordPress content, so SEO plugins such as Yoast SEO and Rank Math include them automatically. Each album page also tells search engines about its photos.
- Lightweight. No jQuery, and styles and scripts only load on pages that show a gallery.

Your photos stay yours
- Everything runs on your own website. Lloyd Gallery doesn’t connect to any outside service, doesn’t track your visitors and doesn’t load anything from other servers.
- Location data stays private. Phones store where a photo was taken inside the file. Visitors only ever see resized copies, which leave that out.
- If you ever delete the plugin, your albums and photos are kept.

- Password Protected Badge Shows a small lock badge when the current album is password protected, nothing otherwise. Drop it inside a Query Loop's Post Template.
Installation
- In your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins Add New, search for “Lloyd Gallery” and click Install Now, then Activate.
- Open Lloyd Gallery in the dashboard menu and click + New Album.
- Give the album a name and date, then drop your photos onto the page.
- Click Publish.
- Your album now appears on the Photo Gallery page, which was created for you. Add that page to your menu under Appearance Menus, or in the Site Editor.
To show a gallery somewhere else, add the Lloyd Gallery block to any page or post and choose an album, or choose the full album list.

Do I need to resize or edit my photos first?

No. Upload them straight from your phone or camera. Lloyd Gallery rotates, resizes and optimises them for you.

How many photos can I upload at once?

As many as you like. Drop in hundreds of photos or a whole folder and they upload side by side. A single zip file can hold up to 300 photos; for more, use a second zip. The largest file your website accepts is shown on the upload area, and is set by your web host.

Can I upload iPhone (HEIC) photos?

Yes, if your web host supports them. Some hosts do; many don’t. If yours doesn’t, Lloyd Gallery tells you straight away instead of adding photos that won’t display.
If that happens, you can either ask your host to add HEIC support, or set your iPhone to save photos as JPEG: Settings Camera Formats Most Compatible.

Activating the plugin creates a page called “Photo Gallery” that lists all your published albums. Add it to your menu like any other page. You can rename the page or change its address by editing it; your albums’ addresses follow automatically.

Can I put a gallery on a different page?

Yes. Add the Lloyd Gallery block to any page or post and choose one album or the full album list. If you use a page builder or the classic editor, use the shortcodes

Can a photo be in more than one album?

Yes. Use “Choose from Media Library” on an album to add photos you’ve already uploaded. Removing a photo from one album doesn’t affect any others, and never deletes it from your Media Library.

It’s designed to. Lloyd Gallery works with both block themes and classic themes, and fits into your theme’s existing page layout.

Can I password-protect an album?

Yes, with the Lloyd Gallery Pro add-on. Once it’s installed, a password option appears on each album.

Does it work with SEO plugins?

Yes. Albums are standard WordPress content, so plugins like Yoast SEO and Rank Math pick them up automatically, including in your sitemap.

I’m using another gallery plugin. Can I switch?

Yes. The Lloyd Gallery Pro add-on can import Modula galleries into Lloyd Gallery albums. You can also add photos from your Media Library to new albums by hand.

Does it remove the location data from my photos?
-
From what your visitors see, yes. Phones store where each photo was taken inside the file. Lloyd Gallery shows visitors resized copies in its galleries, album list and lightbox, and those copies leave the location out. Your original uploads are kept unchanged in your Media Library, but Lloyd Gallery never shows or links to them.
The one exception is a very small image, under 480 pixels wide, which has no resized copies and is shown as uploaded. Phone photos are far larger than that. If you build your own album list with the Album Grid pattern, its cover photos are handled by WordPress rather than Lloyd Gallery.

Does Lloyd Gallery send any data anywhere?

No. It runs entirely on your own website. It doesn’t connect to outside services, track visitors or load files from other servers.

Does it add a credit link to my site?

Only if you turn it on. There’s an optional, off-by-default setting in Settings Lloyd Gallery to show a small “Photo gallery by Lloyd Gallery” link under your galleries.

What happens to my albums if I delete the plugin?

They’re kept. Deleting the plugin removes only its settings. Your albums, the Photo Gallery page and your photos all stay, so if you reinstall, everything is where you left it.
